The rum drink at the top of the list is rumchatas.
Its a delicious mix of sweet, sour and spicy flavors and is a staple for many of the island’s indigenous people.
For the locals, its the perfect way to enjoy the season.
“I’ve never had a bad rum at all,” says Maria de los Santos, a native of the municipality of Marigot.
“We are really good with it, and I think the best part of it is you can go back and get your own, which is a great way to make it at home.”
For the rest of us, however, rumchas are a great addition to summer.
For some, the rum is just another part of the holiday.
For others, its just another way to relax.
And for some, rum chasos is a special treat.
“It’s really good, I really love it,” says Jose, a resident of the city of Maragós.
“In the summertime you want something that you like.
It’s a fun drink.
You drink it and you are relaxed.
You can do it in the morning and it’s good.”
